Content SummaryMenāḳıb-ı Ḥācım Sultān is a prose account of the life of Ḥācım Sultān, supposedly one of the main collaborators of Ḥācī Bektāş Velī. The res gestae reveals the mystic career of the saint mainly covering his activities in Medieval Denizli-Laodicea. On the other hand, his “historical” life is quite unknown: Gülerer 2012: 13-17. The Menāḳıb recounts a series of supernatural events mainly due to the super-human capacities of Ḥācım Sultān. The saint, as in many menāḳıbnāmes, fights with dragons, resurrects, acts on nature (dividing rivers, immunity to fire, unearthing and walking on water), heals, foretells the future, afflicting catastrophes to humans and even giving life (undirectly, by fertilizing woman without sexual intercourse).
