Content Summary | A’cebü’l-‘Üccâb consists of three main parts that the author refers to as “articles”. The first article is fiqh, the second is arithmetic and the third article is about animals, plants and mines. In the third article, the author talks about the peculiarities of various sciences. The first part of this article is about animals, plants, and minerals; the second part is about the use of plants, animals, and minerals in fields such as medicine and ink making. The third part of the article is about events and consists of eight chapters called nev’. In these eight nevs, information is given on how various events, such as the beginning of the month, the beginning of the year, and how to know in advance whether a sick person will recover or not, how to make predictions by means of numbers, letters etc. Another section contains again eight chapters on the mysteries of the Qur'an, prayers, sins, letters and blessings. These chapters deal with the use of various Qur'anic suras, prayers, and names of God for various psychological and physiological problems; the making of amulets with various shapes, Arabic letters and prayers; and the effects of names and letters. |
