Ahmet Tunç Şen

Ahmet Tunç Şen is Assistant Professor at Columbia University. He received his PhD in 2016 from the University of Chicago with the thesis entitled “Astrology in the Service of the Empire: Knowledge, Prognostication, and Politics at the Ottoman Court, 1450s-1550s.” He has written on Ottoman dream narratives, cultivation of astrology and other divinatory practices at the early modern Ottoman court, social and cultural history of Ottoman learned class, and Ottoman book culture. He is currently working on his first book that explores the 15th and 16th-century Ottoman astrological materials and examines the intellectual, cultural, and political history of astrology in the early modern Ottoman world.
